Open Call
We're inviting queer writers to publish a piece with The Chosen Roots Foundation.
What does the word "queer" mean to you?
We're looking for a 200 word piece exploring your personal relationship with the word, in whatever way it means to you.
To celebrate the launch of The Chosen Roots Foundation, we're offering two paid writing commissions (£75 each), open to anyone who identifies as queer or is exploring what the word means to them.
To apply, send us a short email introducing yourself and your idea. If you have previous writing or a portfolio, we'd love to see it, but this isn't required.
Applications close on 20 August 2026. We aim to be in touch with all applicants by 27 August 2026.
