The Beginning

The Chosen Roots Foundation was built as a labour of love for queer people rebuilding their lives after family estrangement.

Like so many queer people, our journey has been shaped by family, faith, fear and, most of all, self-discovery.

Having lived through the shame and the stigma, nothing is more powerful than accepting who you are, in all your queer and joyous glory.

We hope Chosen Roots can be part of that journey.

The Chosen Roots Foundation is an online community hub for queer people rebuilding their lives after family estrangement and finding family in new ways.

We believe creativity, in all its forms, can be a powerful part of healing.

Through books, art, film, conversation and everything in between, we hope to create a space where our community can reconnect with themselves, with each other and with the idea of home.
